About d-Orbital Solutions
d-Orbital's principals have over 20
years experience specifically creating and employing actively managed market
solutions. However, the most important lessons learned are gleaned from over
30-years of real-time market observation. This familiarity cannot be garnered
from books, historical chart reading, or back-testing. This hands-on involvement
allows us to recognize certain market peculiarities which d-Orbital has
developed into key distinctions. Some of these distinctions are reflected in
our company name:
Sharing Market Data
d-Orbital has a unique way of designing and developing market systems.
We understand that no market sector operates in a vacuum since each is influenced
by the movements of other sectors or by the same factors as other sectors—
whether fundamental or technical in nature. The combination of specific factors and
market sectors are used to create models—which d-Orbital calls compounds.
Our company derives its name from the transition metals in the periodic table
of chemical elements. These include, amongst others, gold, platinum, silver,
copper, nickel and iron. Most elements can only use electrons from their outer
orbital to bond with other elements. Transition metals however, can use the outer
and also the next nearest orbital, a chemical trait that allows them to bond with many
elements in a variety of ways. It is the inner d-Orbital, not yet filled,
that allows for this unique peculiarity. The d orbitals split into two energy sublevels,
thus giving rise to characteristically colored compounds.
In creating our market compounds, we not only use information from the specific
market that is being traded, but also share information from and between other market sectors.
It's a feature that allows us to blend markets in a variety of combinations to create
an assortment of composites which are much more colorful than traditional market models.
Money Management
Once our compounds are created, we can then blend them in a wide array of
combinations to create solutions. Our solutions, as in chemistry, are homogeneous
mixtures composed of two or more substances.
d-Orbital makes a distinction between compounds and solutions. A
compound is derived from components that are rigorously combined that result in
a constant composition. Like the formation of water. The compound water is formed
by combining exactly two parts hydrogen with one part oxygen. The result is
H2O. Any other combination would result in a different compound and
not water. By adding sugar to that water we get a solution. There is no
right amount of sugar. There is no perfect ratio. You just mix and suit to taste.
Compounds are akin to market-models while solutions are analogous to money
management.
Cloud of Probability
Electrons traveling around the nucleus of an atom—owing to an age-old
misconception—are not equivalent to planets traveling around a sun.
Instead, they can be represented as a cloud of probability around a nucleus.
This electron cloud is a statistical
model which describes within a reasonable probability that the electron is likely
to be somewhere in close proximity to the nucleus. Just as stock prices are likely
to be near the prior day's close. Also, like the high kurtosis of the market, the
electron still has a probability of being anywhere in the universe. d-Orbital
uses this cloud approach to statistically determine the likelihood of the next day's
market move while being mindful of the fat-tails of a high kurtosis system.
